Hiring. How to Separate the Wheat from the Chaff
نویسنده
چکیده
Job applicants frequently lie or cover up important information. In fact, 40% of the résumés received by companies contain inaccuracies. The result of this chicanery is that companies often end up choosing the wrong professionals, which has damaging consequences. Luckily, human resources professionals have numerous ways to prevent poor hiring decisions from being made, thus sparing themselves from embarrassing claims and improving the efficiency of their staff. Prescreening dubious résumés and inperson interviews are a couple of the formulas used, and are still the best option as they allow the hirer to look directly into the applicant’s eyes and try to verify whether or not the person is telling the truth.

A Study of "Wheat" and "Chaff" in Source Code
Natural language is robust against noise. The meaning of many sentences survives the loss of words, sometimes many of them. Some words in a sentence, however, cannot be lost without changing the meaning of the sentence. We call these words “wheat” and the rest “chaff”. The word “not” in the sentence “I do not like rain” is wheat and “do” is chaff. For human understanding of the purpose and beha...
متن کاملRemobilization of water soluble carbohydrates in non-leaf organs and contribution to grain yield in winter wheat under reduced irrigation
The remobilization of water soluble carbohydrates (WSC) has an important role for grain yield. This study investigated the accumulation and remobilization of WSC in non-leaf organs (chaff, upper stem, and lower stem) and their contribution to grain yield, under different irrigation levels (rainfed, reduced irrigation, and full irrigation) and seeding rate treatments (450, 600 and 750 plants...
متن کاملMemory Carving in Embedded Devices: Separate the Wheat from the Chaff
This paper investigates memory carving techniques for embedded devices. Given that cryptographic material in memory dumps makes carving techniques inefficient, we introduce a methodology to distinguish meaningful information from cryptographic material in smallsized memory dumps. The proposed methodology uses an adaptive boosting technique with statistical tests. Experimented on EMV cards, the ...
متن کاملUses and Abuses and Misuses of Computational Models in Classical Conditioning
Classical conditioning is at the heart of most learning phenomena. It is thus essential that we develop accurate models of conditioning; since, psychological models rely heavily in verbal accounts that are necessarily imprecise it has become apparent that the development of computational models is imperious. However, we need to separate the wheat from the chaff. In this paper we review the main...
